My most treasured posession

Red hard cover with gold embossing, light foxing to pages. First Edition.

Some of the stories included:

  • The Spider Which Bought a Dog as a Slave – Northern Nigeria
  • Why the Lizard Continually Moves His Head Up and Down – West Africa
  • The Treasure Chamber of Rhampsinitus – Egypt
  • The Schildburgers??? – Germany
  • The Speaking Grapes, the Smiling Apple and the Tinkling Apricot – Hungary
  • The Booby – Italy (Seriously.)
  • The friendship of the Squirrel and the Creeping Fish – Malay Tale
  • The Story of the home-bred boy – Tibet
  • The Giant who had no heart in his body – Norse Tale

I am having a ball reading these. They are an endless source of inspiration. Currently working on a poetry submission for Blackmail Press. Soaking up these stories for creative fuel.

Summer Reading List

Had a lovely stroll through Herne Bay this morning. Highlights include a cupcake shop and a shop selling vintage posters and the like.

I picked up a few gems from Dominion Secondhand Books:

  • The World Split Open – Women Poets 1552-1950
  • Denis Glover Selected Poems
  • The Rock Woman – James K Baxter
  • Bratsk Station – Poetry by Yevgeny Yevtushenko
  • The Stories of Frank Sargeson

So I guess I will be busy for a while. I am still only halfway through the Time Traveller’s Wife. Will post up my thoughts when I  am done.

Fell asleep over Sargeson in the cafe, but don’t blame him. Too many late nights.
